COTY launches new Halle Berry fragrance



For over a hundred years Coty has been at the top of the beauty industry. Since its founding in 1904, Coty has been behind the invention of milestone brands. From Calvin Klein to Jennifer Lopez, David and Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kimora Lee Simmons, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Kate Moss and Tim McGraw. Brand diversity has been a key element behind the expansion of this progressive brand. Now Halle Berry will be amongst the major celebrity fragrances.

This beauty giant has just signed Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry to a scent development deal, which entails Berry developing a fragrance portfolio and appear in advertising. "Halle is an iconic actress and symbolizes beauty to many generations. She adds another dimension to the celebrity fragrance market. Halle has always been a little more mysterious, not quite as open with her personal life as some other stars. Her fragrances will allow her to present another facet of her personality to her fans" A very enthusiastic Steve Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing at Coty Beauty US, shared his glowing thoughts of Halle in Florida at the Personal Care Products Council annual meeting this past week.


When can we check out Halle's fragrance? The first fragrance is expected to launch globally in spring 2009. They will launch at such retailers like J.C Penny, with plans for expansion to mass market. Although we can't know the details about how much a business venture like this will make Halle an filthy rich woman. Although Coty will not let out the details of the deal, generally celebrity deals such as hers include 3-5 million UP FRONT, with a royalty about 5%. Halle is blazing trails, and opening up doors not only on the silver screen, but with mass market media as well. Already 2008 has proven itself to be fantastic year for Halle Berry. It will be very interesting to watch her star power grow this year!
